Children's House for ages 3-6
Our Children’s House is an international Montessori program for ages 3-6.
The goals of the Children’s house are to foster independence and to support children in moving towards mastery of self and the environment.
In a Montessori class children engage in interactive learning in an environment carefully prepared by an educator trained to work with children of a specific age group.
In non-graded class of mixed ages children are given lessons with materials designed by Dr. Maria Montessori, choosing their activities and making discoveries about language, mathematics, biology, geometry, physical education, art and music.
To enhance the wholistic development of a child we offer art, movement and music lessons as a part of our classroom's experience.
The following areas of exploration are included in our program:
Through practical life activities children acquire many daily living skills: preparing food, fastening clothes and caring for their environment. These activities also help children extend their powers of concentration and develop coordinated movement.
Through interaction with sensorial materials which isolate one quality – such as color, shape, sound, taste or weight – children experience the world through their senses, in a way that establishes the physical and mental foundation for further learning.
The child is immersed in an English language environment. Through a variety of activities and materials children become familiar with sounds and symbols and begin to process of writing which naturally leads to reading.
Children begin to explore mathematical relationships by manipulating concrete materials. The goals of program are for each child to develop a love of numbers, problem-solving strategies, computational skills and confidence in using numbers in everyday life.
Art, music, science (geography and biology) are integrated into the whole classroom experience. Living plants, animals and hands-on materials are part of the classroom, allowing children to develop skills in observation and care.
